Summary

Multiple contemporary developments have re-positioned both sustainability and resilience in the supply chain from ‘nice-to-haves’ to ‘must-haves’, whether driven by geopolitical, social or regulatory factors. It is clear that the pace of change is not what it needs to be to make the impact that many companies are committing to, and that stakeholders are looking for.

Businesses are starting to recognize that supply chain is critical to achieving their goals around these subject matters, and that the importance of the supply chain goes far beyond delivering product on time at the best possible cost, but that it drives the ability of an organization to be both sustainable and resilient in the long term. The challenge they are facing, is that long term strategic supply chain goals are always competing with immediate pressures driven by the macro-economic landscape and short term continuity of supply challenges that we are seeing across the globe. Deloitte’s Strategic Risk team will share insights to how they are seeing businesses try to balance these goals and bring forward long term impact through their supply chain activities.

Key themes explored include:

  • Why is sustainability and resilience in the supply chain so important?
  • Can organizations seamlessly integrate both sustainability and resilience in their supply chain operations, and get the best of both worlds?
  • What are some of the most pressing sustainability and resilience challenges facing supply chain professionals, both currently and in the future?
  • What are the most exciting developments in managing the sustainability and resilience supply chain challenges businesses face?
